It is with great sadness that we heard that Rick Wooldridge has passed, many will have known of his recent downturn in health, and thoughts from all at Exeter & District Basketball are with his wife Maria, his family and his many friends and colleagues within the basketball community.
Rick was the basketball coach that brought the joy of basketball to many within the England set up, South West, Torbay Tigers and Churston Ferrers Grammar School – he was renowned in basketball circles, was always approachable and willing to impart his vast basketball knowledge into your game, in whatever sphere that was.
His influence in the game was immense, and the game of basketball that he brought to many will live on in his legacy for many years to come.
There are many players, coaches and officials that are where they are today due to Rick, he had such a depth in knowledge and a wicked sense of humour, he will be missed around the court across the country, but his legacy will live on.
Rick, you will be missed by so many, but there is a team up there that needs a coach!
Rest In Peace Rick
Obviously subject to the family’s wishes I will update this post with funeral details.
